How to upgrade your favorite sandwich

Lead writer, Becky Krystal, took 5 classic sandwiches – BLT, Turkey, PB&J, Chicken Salad and Egg Salad – and developed quick, smart recipes to take them up a notch. My role was to conceptualize the look and feel of the photography. I art directed the photo shoot coordinating with a freelance team made up of a photographer and food stylist. I also built all of the sets for each sandwich. The simplicity of the recipes allowed us to develop a new article template, which I worked on with developer and designer Jake Crump. To date, all recipes across the site are linked out to our recipe finder database. This new presentation incorporates recipe cards so the ingredients and steps are viewed within the project. I also designed the print spreads for this piece.

During the shoot we created variations on lead images, a print double truck, and fives vignettes to use across platforms.
